GCh. Arylan Mint Proof
(Arylan Tribute to Liberty x Ch. Eklectic Arylan Chiquita Banana)

I guess it's time to change the status of Oz' page after the tragedy which occurred. Many of you already know that Oz escaped my motorhome at the Oklahoma City show in June, 2012 and was killed on the Interstate a week later. My thanks to all the people who made a big effort to find Oz. He was a clever boy who had done this before and seemed to make a game of it. He was also a very sweet boy who always seemed very devoted to me and I'm sorry he did not trust me to look out for him for many more years. There was noisy construction going on in the area and perhaps he did not feel safe with anyone.

Oz was Winners Dog/Best of Winners at the Cardigan Welsh Corgi national show in Houston in 2011. Fortunately I will always have the video of Oz gliding around the ring so effortlessly. That was Oz. An amazing physical specimen. A Cardigan with near perfect structure. Not a stylized Cardi. A Cardi with the equipment to go out and rough and tumble. That is what I wanted and that is what fate handed me. People could differ over what style of Cardi they liked best but non could disagree that Oz was an impressive speciment of a dog.

Time will tell whether I am right, that Oz also represented a good direction for our breed to be going. I only have 2 of his offspring, Angie and Rider. Both are very very nice Cardis with a strong dose of Oz. Oz Mom Chickie was killed a few months before Oz' death through veterinary malpractice during a c-section, so the Oz tap has been shut off. No more chance for little Oz's. But I got a puppy from that Chickie litter, and 2 puppies from Oz' sister who look stunningly good at 14 weeks. Somehow I think we're going to carry on with the Oz experiment, if it may be called that.

So please tune back in, my friends, and see what the future has in store for Arylan Cardigans. Will it stay with the Chickie/Oz legacy or find a new direction.
